About Patty

Patrycja (Patty for short) is from Poland and currently studying American Studies (American culture, society, history stuff). She loves music, movies, animals and claims to be a solid bookworm. She is a singer, writer, photographer, cook, blogger, and handiwork master. She is a dreamer and she has made a lot of her dreams come true at this point, but there are still some to work on. One of them, which may sound funny to some people, is to go to Disneyland. In fact, her BA thesis is entirely based on Disney Princesses. The child within her is doing just fine and she’ll be cherishing it forever.

Patty’s Story

I created my twitter account to be ‘closer’ to my all-time favorite band – Thirty Seconds To Mars, and meet other fans on the way, as there are not many of them where I live. And here’s the story, it’s simple. I met the band, it was a very emotional moment for me, one that I had been waiting for for years, and I will never ever forget that, but thanks to this band I met many amazing people, and two of them are very special.

It’s been 6 years now since I met my very best friend, also a fan of MARS. Something clicked right away with our first twitter interaction. We understand each other, trust each other, support each other no matter what, and share hobbies, passions, and love for music. Some people will find that strange, but I haven’t met her in person, yet. We’ve known each other for such a long time, but we live in different countries and it’s difficult to arrange a meeting. We keep in touch regularly though, and still love each other. I myself find that amazing!

The other person I met is not directly connected to the band and the Echelon (the band’s fnandom), but since I started the Twitter account mainly for the band, I think it’s related to the story. I ‘found’ my boyfriend on Twitter. It was just a random tweet, and it turned out we study together. What the band has taught me is that we should fight for what we believe in, for ourselves, for our dreams and desires, and that is what I did. I used to be (or maybe I am still, but on a different level) very shy and at times pretty awkward with people, but I grabbed this opportunity. We started talking and meeting, and our friendship has developed and turned into a regular relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend.

There are many other things I am and always will be grateful for. One of these precious moments, this time directly connected to Thirty Seconds To Mars, was when I took my whole family (parents and sister) with me to one of the band’s concerts. Not only was that a musically beautiful event, but it was very good for us as a family. We put all our stresses and problems aside, and enjoyed the music and ourselves together. It still brings tears of joy to my eyes when I think about it now, even years later. We always talk about that with smiles on our faces and remember it as one of the best family trips.

That’s just how much I owe to my favorite band – Thirty Seconds To Mars. Precious family moments, the boyfriend I love, the best friend that always has my back, and many many other amazing people I had a chance to meet throughout the whole journey with the band so far, as well as many beautiful memories. I’ll be forever grateful.

Patty’s story was very powerful and we are so happy she has already achieved so many great things in life (we’re hoping for many more!). We’re looking forward to hearing more stories from you and how you met your idols or even your best friend because of a TV show or a band.
